Senate Productivity and Quality Awards (SPQA)

Short Narrative/Description:
Marcia Harrington is the Executive Director of the Senate Productivity and Quality Awards (SPQA) for Virginia and the District of Columbia. SPQA offers the Commonwealth's top award for performance excellence as well as programs and services to help organizations and individuals learn about and apply the world-renowned Baldrige Excellence Framework -- a systems approach to integrated performance management and performance excellence. SPQA is affiliated with the Baldrige Performance Excellence program, which oversees the nation's only Presidential honor for performance excellence. Dr. Harrington will share the services and programs of SPQA and the Baldrige principles and framework.
Speaker Background:
Dr. Harrington's career includes executive level positions in policy, planning, organizational improvement, accreditation and academic positions at universities and colleges in Virginia, as well as the state system office of Virginia's community colleges. She is a consultant in a variety of sectors including higher education institutions, private sector, local government, and economic development for organizational improvement, strategic planning, research, and program development, among others. She has served on the Baldrige National Quality Award Board of Examiners since 2015, the SPQA Board of Examiners since 2016, and was elected to the Board of the Alliance for Performance Excellence in 2019. She also has served in elected leadership positions in national and regional professional associations, and has served on accreditation teams for colleges and universities in the southeast. Dr. Harrington earned her PhD and her MBA at Virginia Tech.

Reservations: Cost for dinner is $25.00 per person if reservations are made by the Tuesday before the meeting), $30 if otherwise. There is no charge to attend for the presentation only. To register with or without dinner please use our on line reservation form which can be used up to the Tuesday before the meeting.
