Quality Matters: Questions on Questions
Presented by
Vladimir Nesterovich
ASQ Section 0511 Chair
Short Narrative/Description:
ASQ Section 0511 is a community of quality professionals of Northern Virginia, with tremendous cumulative experience across multiple industries, companies, and government agencies. Any single one of you in our ASQ Section is a formidable source of takes, opinions, and lessons on a number of Quality Matters.
A Quality Matter is an aspect, focus, slice, segment of the quality landscape that one deals with in a particular situation.
- Do you support or lead CMMI Appraisals?
- Or lead peer reviews and inspections?
- Or apply the Body of Knowledge of a particular ASQ Certification that you hold?
- Or use a process improvement methodology that is in or out of vogue at the moment?
- Do you conduct Quality Audits and write Audit Reports?
- Are you a lead in Process Improvement Initiatives, perhaps struggling with your Organization's unwillingness to participate in them?
- Have you applied quantitative and statistical methods for process improvement and project management?
- Are you responsible for Lessons Learned in your Organization?
- Is your experience as a Quality Professional similar to or different from the experience of a Quality Professional in another industry, government or private, big or small?
And I have Questions about your experience in those specific Quality Matters because I desperately need to know how to do some things and, more importantly, whether it actually works.
- I have Questions on each of the Quality Matters of interest to me.
- And you have Questions about the Quality Matters that did not even occur to me to think of.
Yet I don't know your experience. And you don't know mine. And look at all those other people in the Monthly Section meetings: you don't know their experiences, either.
- And if only you knew, you would do some things differently.
- Or, because it worked for someone else, you might even attempt something that you have not touched with a 10-foot pole.
Thus, I have Questions about those Questions on Quality Matters. Come and find out!
And, by the way... A spoiler alert: I will not ask you to volunteer.
