Saturday, 18 September 2021
George Washington's Mount Vernon: Ranger Outing Event
3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Hwy
Mt Vernon, VA 22121
Event Organized by Carolyn Miller
ASQ Section 0511 Arrangements Chair
The September 2021 ASQ Section Meeting is a Ranger Outing Event (as was announced at the previous two ASQ Section Meetings).
- Participating in it will require driving to the location and spending time there comparable in duration to regular ASQ meetings plus meal time if you stay for the meal.
- There will be no video streaming from this event, so you would have to come in person to participate.
- The Mount Vernon's web site is here: https://www.mountvernon.org
- At the time of writing this announcement, Mt. Vernon recommends but does NOT require wearing masks.
- When participating in this event, you will be with and among other people at the Mount Vernon Estate who may or may not wear masks. Thus, by participating you have agreed that this is acceptable to you.
Program:
The ASQ Section Event will consist of the following:
- Participating in the Mansion and Site Tour
- Attending the ASQ meal at the Colonial Market & Fair
The Mansion and Site Tour Program:
- 11:45 a.m. — 12:15 p.m. — Arrival, registration, and ticketing outside of the Ford Orientation Center.
- 12:20 p.m. — Tour of the Mansion
- 1:00 p.m. — One-hour Adult Walking Tour with Private Guide
This event is free for you but it requires ticketing with the Mount Vernon Estate. Therefore, you must register in order to participate in this event.
This is an educational event, so it carries an award of 0.5 RU as any other ASQ Section Meeting.
It is a recently published ASQ Headquarters requirement for the previously announced in-person Section meetings conducted in the period of September — December 2021 that participants sign a COVID-19 waiver form that the Section will provide.
- You will be offered the form for signing upon your arrival along with your registration for the event.
- Signing this form is a prerequisite for registering your participation in this ASQ Section 0511 event and granting you 0.5 RU.
- If you do not sign the form for any reason, then it will be considered that you have come to the site and its activities on your own (which nothing prevents you from doing) and have not participated in the ASQ event.
Notes on the Program:
If you have not yet done so, please respond by Wednesday Night Midnight 15 September 2021 to the poll conducted by our Section 0511 Chair for Voice of the Customer: Your answers are a direct input in helping us prepare for this and similar event.
- Carolyn Miller (Arrangements Chair) or her designated volunteers will meet you at the Ford Orientation Center at 11:45 a.m. — 12:15 and will assist you with your registration and ticketing.
- Please arrive to the registration site in advance, preferably at 11:45 a.m. We need to complete all registrations and ticketing by 12:15 p.m. and enter the Mansion at 12:20 p.m. Please be mindful of the fact that you are not the only person arriving.
- The Adult Walking Tour may be replaced with an educational activity of similar value and duration depending on availability, interest, number of people attending, etc. (Details are being finalized by the Arrangements Chair and are not available at the time of this writing.)
- The Colonial Market & Fair event will be taking place at the Mount Version Estate on the day of our Section's Ranger Outing Event. This will provide you with more choices than usual for buying your own meal at the Market & Fair and exploring its exhibits.
- You can also visit the Donald W. Reynolds Education Center after or instead of the meal on your own.
If you have not yet done so, please respond by Wednesday Night Midnight 15 September 2021 to the poll conducted by our Section 0511 Chair for Voice of the Customer: Your answers are a direct input in helping us prepare for this and similar event.
