Paradise Springs Winery: Ranger Outing Event
15 May 2022
Event Organized by
Carolyn Miller
ASQ Section 0511 Arrangements Chair and Ranger Outings Lead
Short Narrative/Description:
The May 2022 ASQ Section Meeting is a Ranger Outing Event (as was announced at previous ASQ Section Meetings).- Participating in it will require driving to the location and spending time there comparable in duration to regular ASQ meetings plus meal time if you stay for the meal.
- There will be no video streaming from this event, so you would have to come in person to participate.
- This is an educational event, so it carries an award of 0.5 RU as any other ASQ Section Meeting.
- This event requires registration and payment through ePly. You will not have a spot on the tour unless you have paid through ePly. There are only 20 spots for this tour. Registration on ePly will close once the 20 spots have been filled. See further details below**.
- The Paradise Springs Winery's web site is here: https://www.paradisespringswinery.com
- It is located at 13219 Yates Ford Road, Clifton, VA 20124
- The property was originally part of a 1716 land grant from Lord Fairfax to the Kincheloe family, then passed down through generations.
- It features a 1700s log cabin, renovated in 1955 by a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright.
- The site's local guidance can be seen here: https://www.paradisespringswinery.com/Home - neither masks nor vaccinations are required.
- ASQ no longer requires signed waivers.
- Thus, by participating, you have agreed that this is acceptable to you.
- 11:30 a.m. – 11:50 a.m. – Arrival, registration, and ticketing at the podium located as soon as you enter the tasting room.
- Meet Carolyn or her delegate or ask for reservation by Carolyn Miller and ASQ.
- 12:00 p.m. – Tour of the Winery, including a walking tour of the historic cabin, vineyard, production facility, and barrel room, accompanied by an optional tasting of seven wines.
- The tour will start on time and will NOT wait for late arrivals.
- 1:30 p.m. – ASQ Section 0511 Meal (optional).
- You can walk the grounds on your own after that.
- ASQ Section 0511 will arrange a FREE meal from a traditional provider (such as Panera Bread, Subway, or other, details are being finalized and not available at the time of this writing).
- If you are not interested in the FREE meal, then your food options are:
- Purchase your meal at your own expense from the Winery's Artisan Food Truck available on site.
- Visit Winery's building to purchase prepackaged cheeses, meats, spreads, crackers, and breads.
- Bring in your own food, which the Winery allows (but not your own alcohol).
- You may decide not to participate in the meal.
- You need to register every person who will attend, be it you or your guest. https://events.eply.com/202205_Winery3366794
- This is because the number of spots is limited and the tickets have already been purchased, with no possibility of add-ons for the tour.
- Registration is first come, first served. Once the registration count limit of 20 is reached, the registration will close. As of 6 May the count was 14!
- Registration must be accompanied by payment that will be reimbursed if you come to participate:
- You need to pay $20 online for registering each person, be it you or your guest. https://events.eply.com/202205_Winery3366794
- Any ASQ Member in PAID status WHO SHOWS UP for this Ranger Outing will be REIMBURSED the $20 after the event to the same card used during the online registration.
-
Any other registered person WHO SHOWS UP but is NOT in PAID ASQ status (for example, Spouse, Friend, or ASQ Member in UNPAID status) will be reimbursed 50%, i.e., $10 of the $20.
