The Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum was a family business founded in 1792 and operated in this location from 1805 until 1933. It represents one of Alexandria's oldest continuously run businesses that combined retailing, wholesaling, and manufacturing. The museum boasts a vast collection of herbal botanicals, hand-blown glass, and medical equipment, and houses a spectacular collection of archival materials, including journals, prescription and formula books, ledgers, orders and invoices. The Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum is a National Historic Landmark.
This tour will be led by a guide provided by the museum exclusively for our group. Due to space limitations, we will be split into two groups should we have more than 12 participants. To ensure enough guides are available, please rsvp one week prior to the event (by July 8). Late registration will only be available if it is determined that two groups (or if we have not hit capacity for one) will be necessary as the maximum capacity, all in, is 24 participants. The tour will start promptly at 10 am, so please plan ahead, accounting for parking in Old Town and the walk to the museum. The museum website has a "Plan Your Visit" link with additional information.
Event Organized and Hosted by
Carolyn Miller, ASQ Section 0511 Arrangements Chair and Ranger Outings Lead
Connie Broadie: ASQ Section 0511 Secretary, Chair for Voice of the Customer, Historian
