Slide 3 of 17
Notes:
Last summer, I noticed that I was drinking a lot of water and losing weight. That wasn’t bad! But I was also having to visit the restroom very often. In fact, when it came time in August to drive out to Spokane, WA to visit my older daughter and her husband, I had to stop at every rest area between here and Spokane with the exception of two. We had stopped at restaurants very close to them.
So, with some encouragement from my wife, I scheduled a full physical exam for early September.
On September 12th, Dr. Van Ba Doan and I played phone tag for a few hours. When we finally connected, he said, “Get in here now! I want you on some medicine. You have diabetes.”
When I got to his office, he said, “I’m an internalist. 90% of my dialysis patients are diabetics. It can cause blindness, heart failure, kidney failure, and loss of limbs. You will take your medicine. You will take the diabetic classes. You will be back to see me.”
