Litton PRC, a Northrop Grumman company, has more than 5,300 employees in 80 offices nationwide, and is a leading provider of information technology and systems-based solutions for the U.S. government and commercial customers.
The history of Litton PRC includes the merging of two pre-eminent organizations in the Washington, DC, area-Planning Research Corporation and Advanced Technology, Incorporated (ATI). Both companies had outstanding records of service and growth. Planning Research Corporation was founded by five scientists and engineers from the Rand Corporation in 1954. The company has provided advanced research and systems analysis services to industry and Government from its inception.
In 1976, ATI was privately founded by five partners to provide client services and to develop a wide range of information systems applications focused on engineering, logistics, and information technology. ATI excelled in supporting tactical and strategic operations on land and sea and in air and space.
In the late 1980s, the two companies were acquired by Emhart Corporation of Connecticut to form the cornerstone of its Information & Electronics Sector. Subsequently, Emhart was acquired by the Black & Decker Corporation of Towson, Maryland. The two companies, both subsidiaries of Black & Decker, merged to form PRC Inc. in January 1991.
In 1996, Litton Industries, Inc., a leader in worldwide technology markets for advanced electronics, defense, and information systems bought PRC Inc.
