The Power of Peer Review

Robert Stites

Robert Stites

Short Narrative/Description:

By having at least one other set of eyes "peer review" and comment on our work products, at succeeding stages of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), the quality of the work products and deliverables will be improved substantially, delivered earlier, and at reduced cost.

Beginning with the description of an embarrassing failure in the history of NASA's exploration of Mars, caused primarily by insufficient Peer Review implementation, the presenter will introduce the attendees to the principles, practice, preparation, and power of the Peer Review process. The presentation will conclude with the presenter's lessons learned, best practices, and tool recommendations for effective peer reviews based on the presenter's many years of experience with guiding CMMI Maturity Level 3 projects.
